State Tournament

It all goes down today.   Brenden Watson and Garret Conner weigh-in at noon today.  They will begin the Division 1 first round at 5:45 pm.  Consolation first round starting at 8:45 pm for Divsion 1.   However, our boys will be back in the morning to wrestle the championship quarter finals begining at 11:20 am.

Brenden won 6-3 and advanced to quarterfinals.   He will wrestle tomorrow at 11:45.   Updated 3/1 7:45 pm

Unfortunately, both lost this round. They have moved to the Consolations.   They will be back to the mats about 1:45 pm to wrestle.   Updated 3/2 1:07 pm

Brenden wrestled Milano of La Salle, this round, in a rematch of the District finals.  Brenden improved his performance but was unable to win.  The final score was 6-3 with Milano advancing.  

Many GWOC wrestlers were eliminated this round including: Heidkamp( Butler), Noble (Lebanon), Parret (Fairmont), Corba (Beavercreek),  Schmidt (Miamisburg).   From the area,  Windsor (120, Wayne),  Globke (152 Middletown) and Kimbrell (170 Fairmont),  Grayson (182 Springfield),  Walker (182, Springboro), and GARRET CONNER (195) remain in the tournament.

Garret will be back to the mats about 6:30 pm or 8:45 pm to wrestle.   Updated 3/2 3:22 pm

Season Review

Congratulations to the Centerville Wrestling team for continuing a dominating "Month of Champions." The Elks won the Centerville 1 Sectional Team Title. The Elks also won 11 out of 12 finals mathches to cap off the evening. Champions for Centerville was Troy Barklay, Brenden Watson, Nick Duffy, Garrett Conner, and Conan Jennings. Other placers were Josh Scanlon 3rd, Jimmy Barton 5th, Colton Hale 5th, Alexander Bair 3rd, Alec Gilchrist 4th, Corey Jones 5th, and Josh Harrell 3rd. Good Luck as the Wrestling Team Heads to the District Tournament this Friday and Saturday at Fairfield High School.

The Centerville Wrestling team has now won the GWOC tournament, Sectional Tournament, and is voted number 1 in the Dayton Mat Poll. This is the first time this has happened since 1982--"Way to GO ELKS!!"

A huge thank you to the individuals who stepped up and helped work the sectional tournament and some came back for the Youth Regional that was held at CHS on Sunday. The ladies in Concession (Tzeitel Watson and Rae Weir--Awesome!!) Laurie Spiewak--a little bit of everywhere--Awesome!!! and of course Leslie Bair-Hospitality and a little bit of everywhere on Sunday-Awesome!!

The men who have worked all tournaments on clock--You are truly DA MAN!!-John Spiewak, Steve Andrews, John Tonkin

Also Shane Conner was outstanding with organizing and running the weigh ins and security at the Youth Tournament on Sunday-(550+) kids and their crazy parents!!

Their is a lot of parents who do a lot of behind the scenes work-Thank You!
